10 Acts Of Self Love

 

Self love is a precious act.

Its not all about the superficial.

I believe that sometimes our acts of self love need to go a little deeper. So here i have chosen to share a few of my favourite ways we can show ourselves love on a deeper level.

1. Write Yourself A Love Letter

Write yourself a letter, compliment yourself on all the wonderful, unique and beautiful qualities you poses. Praise yourself for all that you have achieved and how you have transformed & Thank yourself for all that you have brought yourself through.

2. Buy Yourself A Plant Or Flowers

Treat yourself to a beautiful bouquet of flowers, you deserve it! Plants and flowers are beautiful beauty gift, not only because they look gorgeous but they will lift the vibration of the space they put in (Roses are my faves).

3. Take Yourself On A Solo Date

Think of somewhere you’ve always wanted to go, a gallery, a restaurant, a museum, a cute cafe. Wherever it is you've always wanted to go, now get dressed up in a way that pleases you! And take yourself on your dream date! You deserve these experiences now! Right now! Not only when you’ve met someone to give them to you.

4. Mirror Gaze

Stare deeply into your own reflection and just look at yourself, acknowledge your beautiful and unique form. You may like to recite words of love and affirmation to yourself, but even just gazing at yourself is a wonderful place to start. If you feel a little uncomfortable at first, thats okay! Take your time. We are constantly bombarded with images and opinions of how we are “supposed” to look, the key here is not to judge or compare yourself with others, but to just see yourself. This is you. This physical form is what houses your beautiful soul and is what will carry you through this human life. Consider expressing your love and gratitude for everything your body does for you on daily basis with you even having to ask. The more often we mirror gaze the more we are able to love, appreciate and accept ourselves!

5. Set Healthy Boundaries With Others

Boundaries are not there to keep people out of your life, they are there to set you up for healthy, mutual and respectful relationships. Boundaries are a wonderful way of making sure you dont over pour from your cup and feel depleted.

Think about what Boundaries might serve you well in your life.

One boundary i have set for myself is, before rushing into saying yes to plans (even if the plan sounds like a dream), i practice saying something like - Thank you for your invite, I’ll have a think about it and get back to you with definite answer. This gives you the space to decide what you really want and what you really have the capacity for with out the pressure to immediately answer.

6. Music Is The Answer!

Blasting your favourite songs, singing them at the top of your lungs and dancing around is literally medicine! If you’re feeling sad or you’re just struggling to shift a heaviness you cant quite explain, put on your favourite high vibe songs and just get lost in the music! I promise you you will feel a positive shift.

7.Get Out Into Nature

Take yourself for a walk, get some fresh air in your lungs and let the sun hit your face! Taking regular walks in nature has a positive effect on us on all aspects of us - mental, physical, emotional and spiritual. It allows us the opportunity to be present and connected to the here and now.

8. Take A Break From Social Media

Social media can be a tough one for many people to break away from, but this is even more reason to take a break, nothing should have so much power over you that you can’t make the choice to step away from it.
Give your mind a break from being constantly bombarded by images & videos from the highlight reel of every else’s life and just be present in your own life.

If you’re someone who uses social media as business tool this applies to you too! There are so many ways now that you can post to your social media without being a consumer.

9. Nourish & Hydrate Your Body

Making sure you are drinking and eating enough throughout the day is so so important to keep yourself going!.
I always used to get so lost in my work that i would forget to eat and drink. You are so precious and important and these are basic human needs, if you dont take care of you, you wont physically be able to take care of anyone else.
One thing that really helped me was, setting myself alarms on my phone. I set myself alarms for lunch and dinner and multiple reminders to check in with myself, and ask how I was feeling and when was the last time you ate or drank.

If you’re someone who regularly forgets to eat, drink or just check in with yourself give this a go.

10. Make Bedtime A Ritual

As someone who struggled with sleep for a huge chunk of my life. I believe making bedtime a ritual is what transformed my sleep. Some of the things that have really helped me are:
  • Having a regular bedtime
  • Taking a hot shower or bath before bed
  • Cleansing my energy using - incense, prayer and crystals 
  • Limiting screen time 1hr before getting into bed
  • Sleeping with crystals inc - selenite, howlite, rose quartz and amethyst
  • Listen to bedtime meditations or affirmations as i fall asleep.
