So now you know what grounding is and how it can benefit you, you’re probably wondering how to do it !? Well you’re in luck, below i have given you a step by step of my favourite way to ground.

How to ground..

There are multiple ways to ground, but heres my favourite..
If you have a back garden you can start there, if not, try visiting a nearby park.
Wherever you are, start by taking your shoes & socks off & laying your bare feet on the ground, you may choose to sit, stand or walk bare foot, do whichever feels most comfortable for you!

Start by taking your awareness to your breath. Take a deep breath in through your nose & out through your mouth, repeat this 3 times & then allow your breath to return to its natural pace & rhythm.

Now, bring your awareness to all of the aspects of nature around you, feel the ground beneath your feet, look up at the sky taking notice of the clouds, feel the warmth of sunlight as it falls over your face, smell the fresh air, as you listen to the birds singing. Using all your senses in this way, allows you to become more present in the moment, connected & grounded to the earth.

Now that you are feeling present, grounded & connected, take this opportunity to think about all that you have to be grateful for in your life at this time, send these things love & affirm how grateful you are for them, you can do this aloud, in your head, in the form or a prayer or as a series of affirmations again do this in whichever way feels right for you.

At this point its time to bring your grounding practice to a close.

Start by closing your eyes, then place both hands over your heart, take a deep breath in through the nose & out through the mouth, now thank the earth for its assistance & thank yourself for taking this opportunity to reconnect, take one final deep breath & release your hands as you slowly open your eyes.

& thats your grounding session complete.

Closing Thoughts..

To get the most out of grounding, try to incorporate it into your daily routine, spending as little as 5 minutes a day in this practice will help you too feel a sense of deep peace.

Like anything, the more time you spend doing it the more you will benefit.

As well as using grounding as a part of your daily routine, you can use this technique anytime you are feeling anxious, stressed or unsettled.
