Palo Santo

What is palo santo ?

Palo Santo also known as sacred wood, has been used for thousands of years as medicine & also as an energetic cleanser, uplifter & bringer of good fortune. This sacred wood comes from the “ Bursera graveolens tree”  which is native to Peru, Ecuador, and other South American countries.

How can i work with this sacred plant ? 

When working with palo santo, i find lighting a candle with the intention of what i’d like to bring into my space a great place to start, you can then light your palo santo using this candle. Hold your palo into the flame of the candle until it ignites, allow to burn for 30-60 seconds and then extinguish the flame.

While your palo stick is smouldering guide the smoke around your self & then your space & think about what you'd like to let go of from your mind, body & space, for example: negative energy & thoughts etc & then also think about what you'd like to draw into your mind & space for example positivity, healing & uplifting energy.

You could can create a mantra to repeat whilst moving around your space or simply continue to think about the intentions you sets earlier when you lit your candle.

Be sure to use a heat proof dish to catch any falling embers while you move around your space.

Once you are done be sure to thank this sacred wood for its assistance in cleansing & uplifting you & your space & then wait for the embers to fully extinguish before putting it away.
